Who am I?
Hmm...the age old question...Well, I'll spare you the dramatics and offer you the most basic insight to ME:
Location: Toronto, Ontario...that's in Canada, for those of you who are geographically-challenged. And let's get this out the way: No, I do not live in a igloo.
Age: 18...That makes me an official adult...Wow...So this is it, huh?...Hmmm...I see...Not reeeeealllly exciting, is it?...Oh well...
Favourite Books: In my younger days, I was a fan of Francesca Lia Block. Her books are like dreams: vivid, surreal, and always with hidden meanings. My fave? Violet and Clare or I Was a Teenage Fairy. Yes, I know they sound very immature, but there's so much more to them then the "Young Adult" label. Janet Finch's White Oleander is another great one. Much better than the movie (as books often are), Finch uses flowing words and enigmatic details to brings her charatcers to life in a way that the silver-screen cannot. Another haunting story has to be the Lovely Bones; chilling andpensive, it's a definite must read. If you want a classic, To Kill a Mockingbird is up there for me, as is Catcher in the Rye. Oldies but goodies. Oh, and for the girl in me, who can resist Sophia Kinsella's Shopaholic series? I like to think there's a little bit of Rebecca in all of us...Yes, even you guys.
Favourite Television Shows: I'm a soap opera junkie: Days of Our Lives, All My Children, General Hospital, the Young and the Restless...and sometimes, when I want a good laugh (a really good laugh), I'll even watch Passions (but don't worry, I actually do have a life...I may try to watch these as much as possible, but following them daily can be a challenge). Friends and Will and Grace are great, of course. And there's Desparate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, E.R., Without a Trace, and all of those blobkbuster type of shows. Oh, and of course there's The O.C. And Veronica Mars. And One Tree Hill. Gotta love that teenage agnst. And thank god for my VCR's record button.
Favourite Movies: Oh my, my, my...The Little Mermaid? Does that count? I don't care, I still love it! The Notrebook is a nice sappy lil' one, and Dirty Dancing is a definite classic. Then there's Heathers, one of the best black comedies of all time. Check out Winona Ryer and Christian Slater pre-shopplifting and pre-groping stage, respectively. And if you're really really in need of a good laugh, pick up Napolean Dynamite. This is a movie that'll go down in the books.
Favourite Music: Coldplay, The Arcade Fire, Jack's Mannequinn, American Rejects, Foo Fighters, Vanessa Carlton, The Fray, Snowpatrol, Hot Hot Heat, Jack Johnson, theDandy Warhols, the Killers, the Bravery, Billy Talent, Metric... Wow, it's kind of hard to think of everyone. I'm a little eclectic when it comes to my music, and that's the way I like it. Oh, I know who I'm missing! Elton John! That man has some talent... "Hold me closer, tiny dancer..."
