Frank is in a Grade A funk after the events of Recollection and Regret and needs a bit of space to figure out what's next. Joe can live with that, if he has to, until it leads to some old "friends" from across the sea. Going away from home is always so much easier than getting back...

Working a charity haunted house just isn't supposed to be this complicated... of course, the haunted spirits aren't supposed to kill anyone either... This is a previously completed story I'll be posting over the next 3 days for Halloween. Although it is consistent with my story arc, none of the details in this are needed in the other tales.

It should be Valentine's with Vanessa, but instead Joe's out of town on a case. Still, there's romance in the air - geriatric unwanted romance, that is. A most silly case tale, with a little bit of thought in there somewhere. Lighter reading than Coming of Age, and less thoughtful than Safe Haven, because some days are just goofier than others.

Yeah, it's Christmas. Joe would prefer it wasn't… and why did it have to Christmas in New Hampshire, anyway? Why did it have to be Christmas anywhere! A long one shot and a little wistful indulgence. Another story needing to migrate to a new home... and if you can put a little Christmas in your head here in the summer, you might find with Joe that it isn't quite so bad.

A nice little autumn drive, Joe, Frank, some assorted dead folks... This story was originally written for a Halloween contest in 2009 and like my other HB tales now needs a new home. It is also the start of a series of interconnected stories, although it also stands alone.
