Ho ho ho, kiddies!
No, I've not forgotten about my various fanfiction thingies. While I've not done much writing as regards my stories of late (and have, in fact, been a lazy jerk for the last six months, to the point where my Libre Office Writer icon wasn't even in my usual programs list), I've not forgotten my stuff entirely. I'm still alive, still writing, and you can certainly expect more soon!
However, because I don't want to pull a BlackDragon6 and just up and vanish on people, I thought I should share my thoughts with each of my stories which have pending chapters so you know what to expect.
Loss, Hope & Redemption: Recension, and Reflections: While this is still on the list of things I hope to do before I die, it's terribly low on the priority list. Loss, Hope & Redemption was my first long-form fanfiction (that I'm willing to admit to) and it shows in a lot of ways, and basically at this point I'm rewriting a story plotted by a moron a decade younger than me and I'm not happy with a lot of things about it.
Likely the LHR rewrite and side stories are effectively dead. I'd love to go back to them one day, but realistically it's very low on the priority list when I'm in a writing mood. I'm not declaring either officially dead by any means, but if they never get updated again... You know why.
Galaxy Police Cadet Scramble: Despite being a story I haven't updated in... Oh, screw me, five years, I basically have a good idea how it's going to end and expect that it's going to be finished within about ten to fifteen chapters. My length chapters, obviously, which means I'm going to wrap things up in approximately 25,000 to 37,500 words. Despite all the character building early on, this one wasn't meant to be an especially long story... I just got distracted and ignored it.
For half a decade.
I'm evil like that.
Ripples of a Chaotic Pebble: This story is a fun mess, mainly because it happened at a time in my life where I lost all my god-damned notes partway through writing a complex story involving time-travel.
I'll be honest. I have no idea how this is supposed to end, how I'm going to get there, and what route it's going to take, which is a large part of the reason I haven't come back to this one yet. I started out with a clear goal in mind, then decided the story was going in way too dark a direction before changing it. (In my original concept, Ranma was Tuxedo Mask, and after a bunch of alternate scenarios where he interacted with Sailor Moon and company he was going to retcon his entire life out of existence by being Tuxedo Mask and the final unconscious time-travel thing being that he caused his own parent's death, by appearing in front of their car and leading to a six-year-old Ranma never really learning martial arts at all). I wrote a more awesome version of the story based on the chapters as written, lost the notes to it, then wrote another awesome story based on the story with another few chapters posted, and am now stuck with a Frankenstein monster I refuse to tear down.
Basically the only reason this isn't progressing is because I really need to plot out where to go from where I am, with no ideas about why I foreshadowed things. It's a frustrating process, to be sure.
Echoes of the Past: Like RoCP up there, part of the problem is that I lost all my notes for the story. At this point, I simply don't remember the direction I was originally taking the story into, and thus have to basically write fanfiction of my own fanfiction as I try to remember why I did things the way I did while also reconciling my current writing style with my old one without jarring the reader by doing a sudden quality jump.
Like GPCS, this one was going to be short. Mostly it was going to cover the events of the first book and resolve them from there, because the series Alisa stars in went freaking weird places beyond the first couple books anyway. This one will top out at 60,000 words or so, maximum.
Crimson Eyes of a Feral Protector: Mainly started as a beginnings repository-flavoured thing, but I kept it separate because even when I wrote it years ago, I knew it was something I'd only be able to come back to once Naruto finished (which it has!) because I didn't want to write something that directly contradicted canon events. Now that I know which facts are explicitly stated and which are left vague, I can proceed.
It's not an immediate priority, but I imagine once I finish FWAW, it'll be my go-to project.
Forcibly United: I want to write more, I'd love to write more, but beyond losing my notes (see Ripples, Echoes), I've just gone so long since viewing anything from either series that my batteries are drained, and as my longest story written going back to review what is and is not fact is freaking exhausting. Regaining my momentum is going to take a rewatch of Black Lagoon, basically.
On the length thing, though... If I can get back in my groove, I could see myself carrying it to Ranma: A Second Try Around amounts of length. Before my computer with all my notes got annihilated, I had something stupid like thirty or forty multi-chapter arcs I'd planned to write.
The Perfection of Despair: Really, this is just a side-story kinda deal. I know I paused it at three chapters, but if it lasts more than a dozen I'll be honestly surprised. I've got a good idea how it's going to end, too, so there's that.
For Want of a War: Is obviously my current baby. I've got good, thoroughly duplicated notes which are impossible to lose, and a clear goal in sight for the end, even if I haven't written much lately. While the scope is definitely geared towards being a long-ass story (I'm predicting 200,000 words or more by the end), I've got a broad plot figured out and it's just a matter of pushing forward with it, which is part of why writing the story has been my focus of late.
So yeah. There's the news on all my pending stuff. Hope this helps!

On a whim, I decided I was in the mood for a funny, completed Naruto story which was at least 100,000 words long. I wasn't being terribly picky. I didn't want to read about Original Character romances that were "funny", or Alternate Universe situations, or about boy-on-boy pairings. I thought I would have an easy time finding something to read given the boggling volume of Naruto stories. I thought wrong. Follow me on my journey into madness as I take a look at every Naruto story labeled humor on fanfiction.net, and cry with me as I fail to find the funny.
