Author has written 2 stories for Kaze no Stigma/風のスティグマ, and Harry Potter.
Call me Ed. My stories are posted here, AO3, and AFF
I've been writing for many years, although the majority of my work has either never been finished or never been posted online, and thus will never see the light of day. I've dabbled in Ranma, Sailor Moon, X Files, A Knight's Tale, Harry Potter, and many others. I'm currently working on the first of two or possibly three stories set in a slightly AU Kaze no Stigma, titled Embers in the Darkness. Another story I had been working on, a Ranma future-fic titled Fate, or Something Like It, has been removed because I'm not likely to continue it; for fans of that story I do apologize, and if I find myself doing the tweaks I feel are needed and actually finish it then I will repost at that time.
I take long and seemingly random breaks from posting, usually prompted by my two kids - one of whom is chronically ill and requires multiple surgeries - and my spouse's job with the military, but I never take a break from plotting my stories.
I love feedback, but very rarely will I actively ask for it; I post the stories I do because I think others may enjoy them, but I write the stories for myself. I write the characters the way I do because that is how they present themselves in my thoughts, and I really detest having people ask me to change what I feel is integral to my stories just to please them.
EMBERS IN THE DARKNESS UPDATES:
20 February: Oh my dear sweet grapefruit, I actually managed to get a rewritten chapter pounded out today. Two thousand (technically more like 17-18 hundred) words in roughly 20 minutes. Needs some tweaking, but works perfectly to cover the plot points the fill I had to delete (see last update) AND move the story along between the chapter preceding and the chapter following. Hoping, fingers crossed, and praying that I can keep the momentum going and get more out soon. I really do hate taking so long to get this posted.
27 January: Had to delete two chapters and rewrite them, because what was supposed to be filler info tried to take over the entire arc. Still having problems getting the story to move, which is beyond frustrating because I can envision exactly how I want it to go, it's just not translating as text. Doesn't help that I keep getting sidetracked by new story ideas (let alone, stories in different fandoms). Only good thing is that I'm not stopping writing. I spend at least two hours a day typing stories up, trying to get movement on the ONLY STORY I'M CURRENTLY POSTING. Ffs, this is frustrating. I never expected that two full years after beginning on this, that it would still be unfinished. The only relief I get about it all is that it IS more than half finished.
6 January: After months of writing and rewriting the next chapter, I've finally got progress. I apologize for how long it's been.
26 September: Two chapters are done! Progress! The third is moving right along, and I've been writing down snippets of future scenes as they come to me. Life is moving in a more routine way these days, so I'm actually having the time to write without needing to stay up all night, which is nice. Apologies, because one reviewer has actually guessed which character is being introduced next, and I owe them a sneak peek of the arc; it's on it's way, I promise! I'm using every bit of mojo I can to get this arc done quickly for you all - crossing fingers, praying, wearing lucky socks... okay, that last is a joke, but I've been listening to the albums that have inspired much of the previous chapters almost constantly, and I've been rewatching the show. Until next time!
22 September: I'm so sorry! I've been dealing with serious writer's block and am FINALLY being able to move past it. Scenes weren't moving, but I'm really hoping that has changed. I really had wanted to post this arc much earlier, it just hasn't been finished. Please be patient, I have neither forgotten y'all nor have I given up on the story!
18 March: Finally got a replacement for the broken system I'd been using, so writing is a lot easier now! Also, haven't moved, but it's still in the works as we're just waiting for the new place to be available. In the meantime, I'm getting further into the third arc, enough so that I'm hoping to have it completed and ready to post by May (fingers crossed!!)
17 February: Making more headway on chapter 2 of the third arc. Sadly, no one has correctly guessed which character arc this will contain, so no one has gotten a preview. Will be moving again in the next month, but I'm hoping that since we're able to plan ahead for this relocation that I won't get swamped with cleaning and packing so that I can keep working on the story.
12 February: HA! SUCCESS! I've managed to finally finish the first chapter of the third arc, it just took me far longer than I would prefer. Working on the second chapter, though I really have no idea how many there will be. Of course, I'm fairly sure that my sudden progress on the story has more to do with the fact that I really don't want to be cleaning and packing to move...
25 December: Fear not, the story has not been abandoned, nor put on hiatus. I'm still plugging away at the third arc, there's just a lot going on both in the story and in life. As soon as I get the arc done I'll begin posting again.
18 October: As a birthday gift from my youngest, the outline is fleshed out for the third arc! Will begin writing again here in the next few days, posting hopefully in early November, but it will entirely depend on when the arc (which is going to be long, if the outline is anything to go by) is done being written.
26 September: Ridiculously close to finishing the final chapter of the second arc. Will have it done by the 30th, will post in October. Story will be going on a bit of a break after that so I can finish one of my shorter stories and get it out of the way. EDIT: It's done! Woohoo! Beta read and everything! Expect to see the first chapter of the second arc posted as of 1 October.
18 September: Final chapter of first arc posted. Second arc still in progress, hope to have finished by the end of the month; last chapter is giving me problems.
11 September: Nearing the end of the second arc. Refining the outline as well, to bring it up to date with different approaches and ideas in hopes of being able to get chapters done faster. The arc will be complete before the first arc is finished posting, but there may be a break after that while I recover from being sick (I'm fighting it so I can finish the second arc, but it does make writing hard) and I get some more ideas on paper. There is a possible sequel, but I want to know if people are interested in one before I really work on it. If so, please message me!
8 September: Roughly 1/2 done with the second story arc, not quite 1/2 done posting the first arc (eight chapters total, plus the prologue). Chapters of act II are longer, but fewer in number (I think, I feel like there will be fewer, but can't really know until it's all done).
6 September: Posting of revised chapters is in full swing, as is work on second arc - first chapter of second arc is complete awaiting beta. Second arc is, I hope, not as long as first, so may be completed quicker.
2 September: First arc DONE! Have begun uploads of new, improved chapters.
1 September: Prologue through chapter five done, nearing the end of the first arc. Will remove old chapters and post new when arc is done. On a roll with the story, even though three new fic ideas came to me last month (two are added to my current works in progress).
31 July: I have the new prologue and first three chapters done, awaiting my beta and final edits. Hoping to get up to the end of the first arc before posting, so that the story can continue where it left off. With the kick I'm on, will hopefully not be long before I can start posting the second arc.
FATE OR SOMETHING LIKE IT UPDATES:
17 February: I've deleted the story. There were things in it that bugged me, but more than that I just haven't had the desire to continue it and I don't want to leave a half-completed story just sitting there, mocking me.
16 October: Put my head to the wall repeatedly over the last couple weeks. Have made no progress in the interim, and am just finding no inspiration. I know what I want to write, what the motives are behind the scenes, but I just CAN'T. WRITE. IT. Am putting this aside again to focus on Embers, as I can actually get words to flow on that. Hopefully I will be struck with inspiration as I was for Embers, and can get a little more done. I really wanted to work on this, too, but I'm making the decision to come back to it later.
29 September: Chapter four in progress, roughly 1/4 of the way done. Drama ahead!
Current works in progress:
Embers in the Darkness: a darker retelling of Kaze no Stigma, in which it's uncertain if Kazuma actually has a heart or if he's really just extremely manipulative. Rated M for a reason. Abusive and rape-y themes, but will most likely have a happy ending. I have a very hard time writing unhappy endings.
Potential future works:
I have more than a few ideas running rampant in my head at any given time. These happen to be what I'm currently having the most success getting down.
1) Life with Derek. Derek and Casey teamed up to pull the ultimate prank on their parents. Too bad Sam and George managed to pull even bigger ones. All these pranks work to make life a little more bearable when a freak accident hits and two university students are left with four kids in their care.
2) Harry Potter. Parents will do anything to protect their children, a truth that crosses the lines of Muggle and magical. When Hermione's sell her to her enemy to do just that, no one could have guessed how it would affect not just her, but everyone around her, too.
3) Harry Potter. Take one part over-achieving Muggle-born, one part disenfranchised werewolf, one part bedtime story, and two parts desperation for a chance. Mix well. Silly, snarky, sentimental at times.
4) Ranma 1/2. Captain Akane of the pirate ship Tomboy thrives on flouting social rules and gender roles. Her father thrives on trying to get a grandchild. That's how the Captain got stuck with a mouthy cabin boy on orders to get in her pants.
5) Kaze no Stigma. She was a dragon slayer, and a pretty good one, too. She'd been around long enough to know how to defeat her prey without needing to kill them. So why, when she put that knowledge to good use, did she wind up with a new "partner" who insisted on sleeping on top of her - his hoard?
