Gender: Female Lives in: Northeast USA Occupation:Medical student July 2013 Wow, it's been a while since I updated my bio! Here's a rundown of what I've been doing: I matriculated into medical school in August 2011. Kind of went on and off writing because I've been working a lot on my original stories, which I hope to finish sometime in my life, heh. That being said, I'm endeavoring to finish all of the fanfics that I have left unfinished with a few exceptions. Sorry for leaving you guys hanging, it's tough waiting around, I know. I go back once in a while to read the old CCS fanfics, for example, and there's a definite plan, but sometimes the mood's just not right, you know? Some of the exceptions are All of the World; that one I relinquished some time ago because I'm frankly tired of all the WWII Japanese stuff. It's not my mission to make a statement about politics or society or anything like that, at least not through fanfics. Fanfiction is supposed to be my leisure-activity. Racist massacres aren't too leisurely. there are plenty of people and other mediums through which such messages can be carried, and perhaps in real life I might hold the banner as well, but not on . Also, the Yugioh fanfics...I actually like some of the fanfics out there, but I can't quite get over how absurd it is to have a whole society and culture be based on a bunch of card games. In fact, I kind of wish that Yugi and co took the same positions in that world as real card gamers do in real life; if they were the folks who all got picked on and frowned upon and no one takes them seriously, but all of the sudden the Shadow Games were real Egyptian games that involved life and death and souls! Who's looking down on whom now? That would have been an interesting take. Instead world politics get decided by card game champions and instead of making something like green energy and tech to cure cancer, Kaiba Corps builds giant holograms meant to simulate a single card game because Duel Monsters is the only game that exists in that world besides chess. What happened to Go? Or like, Mass Effect? Can those hologram stations make real life Skyrim? Okay fine those games didn't exist when the show/manga came out, but the point is that there are a lot of things that defy belief in that universe, and are too ridiculous for me to stick with as a writer. As a reader, I can sort of tolerate the stuff, because I can just skip over the passages that confuse probability/combinatorics with cunning strategy, but I can't actually write for it. Heart of the cards, oh god. To Die Standing: The NCIS fanfic has gotten some reviews even now. I'm kind of sorry to say that I'm not continuing it. The reason's because first of all, NCIS is a good show. It's hard to write fanfics for good shows because I'd have to be at least as good a writer as the writers of that show. It's not a challenge I care to take. Second, I got tired of Ziva and Tony. Their on-again-off-again relationship would make me lose all respect for both of them in real life, and as the seasons progressed I realized the writers were trying to drag things out because they knew everything would end as soon as the two actually got together; that feels a lot like manipulating me as a viewer. It's like that person you like who's refusing your advances but also stringing you along. I haven't watched NCIS in years, so I don't know if they are still doing that, but I just remember getting quite sick of it, sick of Ziva and Tony and all the characters on it, and also sick of how after 7 bloody years of working together, the folks working in NCIS still pause in what they're doing and stare at the awkward guy for a comedic effect that has gotten old 20 years ago. It's like no one learns in that damn show. The only exception is Abbey, because she doesn't need to change. Ever. Also, I opened a forum for CCS and TRC for people to post prompts and respond to them, if anyone's interested. They're here and here please check them out! In addition, I also created a Dreamwidth blog, featuring some fanfics and original works. We'll see how that goes XD, here it is. Please check it out! June 2011 Did fanarts for Atton and/or the Exile from Knights of the Old Republic: The Sith Lords. Here is the link to the gallery: I may or may not get back to the first one to fix stuff up. I can't draw men, and I also just don't know what I'm doing, but oh well, here they are for now. Maybe I will go back and make them look all pro once I'm better at drawing XD |
