Greetings, FFN authors and readers!
Gosh, it's been far too long since I've updated my profile! No doubt some of you thought I was dead or something. Or maybe just that I quit. I'm happy to report that neither is true, thankfully. I haven't moved on from fanfic writing; I just haven't been active on the site, nor have I updated my published works.
There are a few reasons for my inactivity, but I'll only mention two. One is that I wanted to improve my writing quality before pressing further into my published works; so I spent time playing around with some minor side projects. Problem is, I let those projects grow and take priority. Now I'm swamped with ideas and pieces that I want to organize and settle before I return to my published stories. I'll be honest: there's no telling when I'll get my house in order and return to the four main published stories I'm working on. But I will assure everyone that I haven't forgotten, and I have no intention of leaving those projects unfinished--even if it takes me years (cringe) to return to them. And you can take that to the bank.
Second, the current situations of the stories themselves haven't helped much in motivating me. They each have their individual problems...
The second half of Tails and the Chocolate Factory, for instance, is uncharted territory, so writing it won't be easy--even with a few ideas floating around in my head. (Thoughts and ideas would be greatly appreciated. And authors/reviewers would be properly credited if I use their suggestions!)
With Food-Mart Frenzy, I face a unique problem; it was intended to be a transition from SSB Melee to Brawl, but now both games are obsolete because of Smash for Wii-U. I've considered resetting it, but that would require a huge plot change. I'm not ready for that.
A Murderer in Our Midst is probably the story that's been in the longest rut; it's definitely the most complex one of the four, being a whodunit. But I haven't given up. For the past few years, I've been doing research on mysteries by reading Agatha Christie novels. (They don't call her the Queen of Crime for nothing, lemme tell you.) And I've tinkered with the plot here and there. I have some great ideas, but the story is a big, complex mess.
And last, but far from least, is A Race Against Time. Personally, its revision is the project I've anticipated the most. But it's also the one that I wanted to prepare for, by working on other projects to hone my skills. It hasn't helped much in continuing the revision. But I'll reiterate what I've said before. I can tell you, from the few snippets of the story that I've produced, that the second version of this fanfic will be worth the wait.
I should also mention the poll at the top of my profile. I checked it half an hour ago; the current standings have Tails and the Chocolate Factory and Food-Mart Frenzy tied for most votes. I mention this just so voters know that their voices have been heard. I'll certainly try to work on those two, but I'm going to avoid making promises--I've muffed too many in the past. (I have a tendency to set my goals much higher than I can reach.)
Anyway, I'm rambling. I've said all this to lead up to one main point: "I'm still here, and I haven't given up." I hope that my fellow authors and readers haven't given up on me, either. And with that, I'll wish you all a good evening.
...Okay, that sounds too formal for me. I'm not a news anchor, for crying out loud. Bye, everyone!
Oh yes, and a Happy 25th Anniversary to Sonic the Hedgehog!!!

(My fancharacters, Monty and Jenkins, couldn't make it for this post. I wanted to be a little more serious this time. But don't worry! They're not gone forever! If I make progress with my published stories, you'll hear from all three of us again!)
The Author to Her Book
(A poem by Anne Bradstreet (1612-1672), after her book of poems, The Tenth Muse Lately Sprung Up in America, was published in England by her brother-in-law without her permission.)
Thou ill-formed offspring of my feeble brain,
Who after birth didst by my side remain
Till snatched from hence by friends, less wise than true,
Who thee abroad exposed to public view,
Made thee in rags, halting to th' press to trudge,
Where errors were not lessened (all may judge).
At thy return my blushing was not small,
My rambling brat (in print) should mother call;
I cast thee by as one unfit for light,
Thy visage was so irksome in my sight;
Yet being mine own, at length affection would
Thy blemishes amend, if so I could:
I washed thy face, but more defects I saw,
And rubbing off a spot, still made a flaw.
I stretched thy joints to make thee even feet,
Yet thou still run'st more hobbling than is meet;
In better dress to trim thee was my mind,
But nought save home-spun cloth in th' house I find.
In this array, 'mongst vulgars mayst thou roam;
In critics' hands, beware thou dost not come.
And take thy way where yet thou art not known.
If for thy father asked, say thou hadst none;
And for thy mother--she, alas, is poor,
Which caused her thus to send thee out of door.
