Entry on February 8th, 2012
(HG--that's me, Hoverbike Girl!--is in her office, which is pretty much just a library chock-full of books with a desk cluttered with papers.)
HG: Hey, readers! It's my first profile entry in 2012! Huzzah!
(Monty the Chao, beloved fancharacter, bursts into the room and hugs the camera.)
Monty: Hi, everybody! Happy New Year! Yaaaayy!!!
(Jenkins the Coyote, another fancharacter, comes into the room, dressed in his butler suit, and pulls Monty off the camera.)
Jenkins: It's a little late for that, Monty.
Monty: So? This is the first time we're seeing everybody in the new year!
Jenkins: ...You have a point.
HG: (checks clock) Hey guys, we might need to get this profile going. It's getting late.
(The two fancharacters leave the camera alone and sit in some chairs by the desk.)
Jenkins: So, why are we here today, Miss Hoverbike?
Monty: Did something cool happen, HG? Huh, huh?!
HG: Not really. My writing is getting a little backed up at the moment. But I did want to make an entry in February, because it has some important dates for me in it.
Jenkins: What dates are those?
HG: The 1st, the 8th (today), and the 15th.
Jenkins: Hm, three dates, each a week apart. What's important about them?
HG: They're the anniversaries of three of my fanfics: Food-Mart Frenzy, A Race Against Time, and A Murderer in Our Midst!
Jenkins: So you actually published those three stories within three weeks? (checks story info) Six years ago?
HG: I meant to do this profile on the 1st, but that's okay. A Race Against Time is really my most major project right now. So we'll celebrate its sixth anniversary today!
Monty: Yay! Lemme get my party hat! (darts off)
Jenkins (quietly groans) Not again...
HG: Don't worry, I won't let him be very noisy.
Jenkins: Thank you.
HG: (sighs) You know, I originally planned to publish ARAT's new version on this date, like I did with Tails and the Chocolate Factory in 2010. But that was really an unrealistic plan; I didn't fully know how much of a project overhauling this story was going to be. Now I do. (to readers) But I would like to aim for next year. So I'm not giving up yet!
Jenkins: I just hope the story doesn't take that long to revise.
HG: Me neither. But I don't know what this new year is going to be like.
Jenkins: No predictions or promises, then?
HG: Not a single one. (grins) With the track record I have of making predictions, I'd probably make a horrible weatherman...woman...whatever.
Jenkins: (rolls eyes)
HG: Oh, and before I forget, I want to mention the Poll at the top of my profile.
Jenkins: It's the same one you added last year, isn't it?
HG: Yep. I just wanted to remind my readers that it's up there, waiting for them to vote on it...or re-vote, in some cases.
Jenkins: Is there any particular reason you're drawing attention to it?
HG: (sighs) It only has one vote so far.
Jenkins: Hm. Unfortunate.
HG: (brightens) The good news is that the vote is for A Race Against Time's new version! So that's encouraging to me. At least one person is looking forward to a revamped version of my classic Sonic fic!
Jenkins: Good news indeed.
(Monty finally zips back into the room, wearing a party hat and carrying another.)
Monty: I found the party hats! (plunks one on Jenkins' head)
Jenkins: (grimaces) Why did you bring out mine?
Monty: Well, when I was looking for the hats, I realized somethin'! HG said February 15th is the anniversary of A Murderer in Our Midst!
Jenkins: (cocks eyebrow) ...So?
Monty: So that's gonna be your birthday, Jenks! (glomps Jenkins' head) Happy Birthday!!!
Jenkins: (blinks in surprise) ...Oh. (small grin) Well...I guess I wouldn't mind having a small celebration...
HG: Who knows, maybe looking over your story again will inspire me to work on it! (to readers) ...No promises, though.
Jenkins: Perhaps. ...Just don't fix a cake. The last thing we need is for Monty to get a sugar high again.
HG: I'll save us all the headache, Jenks. No cake.
Monty: (blushes and pouts)
Jenkins: Would you rather stuff yourself and get a stomachache, Monty?
Monty: (thinks for a moment) Good point. Tummy aches are no fun.
HG: (to readers) Thanks for checking my profile today, friends! While you're at it, why not check out the three fanfics turning six years old this month: Food-Mart Frenzy, A Race Against Time, and A Murderer in Our Midst? I can't say that I'll get to them right away this month, but I haven't given up on any of them! See you around!
Monty: Wait, HG! Don't close it yet!
HG: ...Right! I almost forgot! Jenkins, you with us?
Jenkins: (sighs) Very well...
All: Happy Anniversary to A Race Against Time!!!

The Author to Her Book
(A poem by Anne Bradstreet (1612-1672), after her book of poems, The Tenth Muse Lately Sprung Up in America, was published in England by her brother-in-law without her permission.)
Thou ill-formed offspring of my feeble brain,
Who after birth didst by my side remain
Till snatched from hence by friends, less wise than true,
Who thee abroad exposed to public view,
Made thee in rags, halting to th' press to trudge,
Where errors were not lessened (all may judge).
At thy return my blushing was not small,
My rambling brat (in print) should mother call;
I cast thee by as one unfit for light,
Thy visage was so irksome in my sight;
Yet being mine own, at length affection would
Thy blemishes amend, if so I could:
I washed thy face, but more defects I saw,
And rubbing off a spot, still made a flaw.
I stretched thy joints to make thee even feet,
Yet thou still run'st more hobbling than is meet;
In better dress to trim thee was my mind,
But nought save home-spun cloth in th' house I find.
In this array, 'mongst vulgars mayst thou roam;
In critics' hands, beware thou dost not come.
And take thy way where yet thou art not known.
If for thy father asked, say thou hadst none;
And for thy mother--she, alas, is poor,
Which caused her thus to send thee out of door.
