[Prequel to Children of Fate] As she tries to help Colleen through difficult times, Michaela remembers a time when she, too, struggled to keep her marriage from falling apart and had to make difficult decisions and live with the consequences. *WARNING* if the depiction of severe mental illness and its archaic and brutal treatment in the 19th century bothers you, please do not read.

This three-part, hopefully funny novella aims to relate Preston Lodge's arrival in Colorado, prior to his boarding the same train that brought Michaela and Sully back from their honeymoon. It might shed a whole new light on Preston's attitude towards the Sullys...

Part of my "Missing Enthusiasm" series. I've tried to imagine how Michaela and Sully might have dealt with their separation when Sully had gone to Nevada, and their reunion. Warning: the rating's T, but it's sometimes flirting with the M-line.

Set during the episode "A Washington Affair", this short story has been inspired by an element present on the script that didn't appear on screen, the screaming headline of a newspaper, and describes the events between the moment Michaela and Sully are spotted in the slums of Murder Bay and their rendezvous with Eli Parker.

Set immediately after the awkward, yet funny scene between Mike and Sully, in "Where the Heart Is", when Sully says "I can make a fire. So can you, as I remember". What would have happened if they had actually kissed before Mike left the room?
