Pairings I dislike quite intensely and have been seeing so much I have to mention here:
SasuSaku (Not that I dislike Sakura, I love her! I just really, really, REALLY hate them together)
Harry/Draco (The problem with only enjoying certain yaoi pairings is that many authors also like this one, -sigh-)
Lloyd/Sheena (I'll admit she had a crush on him, but she definitely got over it and belongs with Zelos )
Elricest (Also EW!!)
SessInu (Also also EW!!)
Roxas/Namine (They're siblings, people, come on!)
Roxas/Sora (That's like masturbation. Gross.)
Katara/Zuko (Super popular, but noooo. No. Disgusting. If Bryke says it would never ever work between them, that's what goes. They know their own characters best.)
Unfortunately, more to come.
Note: Though I won't downright refuse to read it if the fanfic is really good and I like the author a lot, I don't like character bashing. At all. Unless, you know, he or she is naturally evil or sometime in canon. It's just that there are some fanfics I really, really like, and I love the author, but they have some sort of grudge against a certain character in the series I don't mind, or even like. Most of the time I read it anyway, but sometimes they are so mean to that character that no matter how much I love the plot and everything I can't continue to read it. Yes, I do appreciate the author more if they say why they don't like the character as opposed to "I hate -insert character here-! S/he's gross and a -censored-!" Though if you aren't too offended by it, and you say why you don't like the character, I'd be more than willing to argue my case for why they aren't that bad. -sigh- Sometimes I'm just too nice...Even characters I used to hate I'm starting to defend now, when I see people bashing them. This was inspired by my liking of Sakura and Kagome, and seeing them be bashed everywhere lately. They own, dude!
New Rant One: My current obsession over Kingdom Hearts- Okay, first I must admit... I have never played a Kingdom Hearts game. Sadly, I own no consoles (yes, DS too) that can play these amazing games. I have, however, watched all the cutscenes, watched my friends play the games, and read more in depth game info on various fansites and wikipedia. Concerning this obsession I've held for about two years now, I will begin at the beginning. It started during gym class: My friend (Lindoreda, check out her work!) and I were walking around the block around our school, and, being bored, somehow we decided that she telling me the entire plot of the games would be a great idea. I was in love, after being a bit confused over these “guys in white” (the Dusks) and other aspects of it that were a lot better understood after actually watching the cutscenes. This game had everything! Plot, fantasy, blatantly gay male leads, Disney... What more could I ask for? After watching the cutscenes from KH1, CoM, and KH2 (KH2 first, of course), I immediately delved into the fanfictiony world I had come to live in through Harry Potter, Naruto, InuYasha, and other fandoms. Unlike Naruto, I didn't start out with Sora/Kairi and work my way into loving the yaoi-ness: I immediately knew Riku and Sora were meant for each other. I mean, theirs was the quintessential main character love! Light and Dark, Hero and Anti-hero, seme who acts like every other seme I love (in fanfiction land, anyway) and uke who acts like the seme's perfect match, etc. I was in love. Of course there was Axel and Roxas as well, but that was pretty much canon anyway, so that took a little fun out of pairing them up. Don't get me wrong, I still read AkuRoku as the main pairing, which proves how much I love them, considering I usually only read fanfics that are centered on the main character (or their love interest), but Riku and Sora is just more of what I love in fanfics, cliché as their relationship is. They're just, oh... I can't even describe how much I love that pairing. Also have grown quite fond of LeonCloud, though I'm a CloudTifa shipper in FFVII (though I can see him with Zack or Sephy as well, just not as much). Anyways, my love of this series has introduced me to many a wonder, and made it so I'm not hopelessly confused at anime conventions. Yup, I think that's long enough.
New Rant Two: Why I'm not obsessed with Naruto anymore- I still read Naruto fanfiction and find it as entertaining as I always have, but... The manga and anime just don't do it for me anymore. I still read the manga every Friday when the chapter comes out, but I'm not too happy with the characters and the plot anymore. Seriously, ever since Itachi (RIP) died, the plot's just gone down the tube. Mostly because of Sasuke, for me. I mean, come on!
New Rant Three: Why I'm still obsessed with Harry Potter- Because it's AMAZING IN EVERY POSSIBLE WAY AND ALWAYS WILL BE.
New Rant Four: Why I think Breaking Dawn is the best book in the Twilight Saga, and why I like the Twilight Saga to begin with- I'll start with Breaking Dawn: I know a lot of people really didn't like the book, and I get that. A lot of people didn't like Deathly Hallows, even though it's the best in the HP series too (IMO, of course). There will always be people with different opinions than me. That's fine. Now, here's why I think BD is the best. First: I am a vampire fan. I've read most of Anne Rice's books, am a Buffy fanatic, and I even like the sheer violence that is Underworld. That may have influenced my feelings. Breaking Dawn was the first in the series to actually have a vampire-centric plot. I mean sure, the Volturi scene at the end of New Moon was amazing for that (only good part of New Moon imo), and the Edward vs. Victoria scene at the end of Eclipse was pretty exciting as well, but the entirety of book three of BD had all these new (awesome) vampires, and Bella was FINALLY a vampire, which is amazing. Ah, I love vampires... Two: Compared to the previous books, this one was the only one that wasn't completely focused on love. Don't get me wrong, I love the romance (else I would've never gotten as far as BD), but New Moon and Eclipse were pretty much ONLY about the Bella/Edward/Jacob thing. Sure, there was the existence of werewolves and the whole Victoria thing, but let's be honest. That was just a subplot to the romance. BD was, after book one, pretty much an entirely new book, and for that I love Renesmee. And you all can shut up about her name now, it's fine. Not normal, but I agree with Stephenie on this one. At least she didn't have a boy and name him Edward Jacob. -shudders- Sure, it was a bit too happy, but that can be good for me, who typically reads stuff with a lot less happy. Three: This book could satisfy all the fans. For the Jacob fans (of which I was not), there's book two, which, yes, gets a bit boring occasionally, but his interactions with Rosalie made it all worth it for me. Those two are freaking hilarious together. For the fans of the utter gushy romance (guilty) from the first three books, there's book one, which, until the end, is still much like the previous books in the series. And for fans of new, actually exciting plot, there's book three, which, along with having Bella as a vampire, which I personally have been dying to see since Twilight, introduces hilariously awesome new characters we can all love and write fanfics about. Uh... I think that's it. Along with all that, this book, though having a slightly anti-climactic ending which I'm ultimately okay and happy with, made me like Jacob, which proves that anything can happen. All I can say that could have improved this book was to have more Edward/Nessie bonding. What can I say, I'm a sucker for oyako.
As for why I like the series to begin with, the vast majority of my friends absolutely detest the series and would like nothing to do with it. I can see where they're coming from, it's not the most well-written of books, can be really lame and stupid sometimes, and has borderline Mary-Sue ish characters. I myself would like to re-write some of the scenes and take out less of the waaay too unrealistic love between Edward and Bella (I love it sometimes, though, gotta admit), but overall it's a fun, light-hearted read. Nothing that should be analyzed or read in English classes or anything, but something for when you don't want to think too much, and just want to enjoy a good love story with some vampires thrown in for excitement. What annoys me most about the series is the fans, to be honest. Some are genuinely smart, thoughtful people who have logical reasons for liking the books, but those millions of stupid pre-teen girls who don't know how to spell and think Twilight is the most perfect and flawless book in existence just piss me off. I won't go into this much more, but most of the fans are imbeciles and creep me out a bit, and make me feel ashamed to like the series, which is why I have this section. Okay, I think that's good.
(P.S. Not an enormous fan of the movies, but the thrill at the midnight showings is still exciting, and laughing at the atrocious acting is ever so much fun. Besides, it rekindles a love for the books, despite their not as stellar quality.)
SUMMARY OF KYO KARA MAOH:
Gunter/Gwendel: It seems there's a problem-
Currently reading: FINALLY getting around to reading Song of Ice and Fire series, after like a year of being prompted to do so by friends. I know, only reading it 'cause of the show, but it's still a plausible excuse. Shut up. Also lots of Batman comics. ...Yeah, I'm into that now. Shush.
Current Fav Anime/Manga: Not really watching or reading anything new at the moment, other than finally getting around to finishing FMA: Brotherhood. Cried several times at the end. T.T Still infinitely better than the original anime, though I do appreciate it for its value and beauty.
Current fanfic status: Tell Me There's A Class For This is sadly now on a TEMPORARY hiatus, due to mine and CarpeCor (previously Outkast Angel)'s ridiculously hectic lives, and the fact that we don't go to school together anymore, so we can't heckle each other on a daily basis to update, though this still occurs occasionally on skype convos and whenever we get a chance to hang IRL. She's also been super busy with her amazing projects of making clothes/plushies/other things, while I've been busy... Uh... With school 'n stuff. Shut up, I'm super lazy. >.> I am in the midst of writing a new fic, however, which is Harry Potter next gen, and it'll be around 13 chapters. I'm not posting until I've written the entire thing, though (I've learned my lesson). But it'll be hilarious (hopefully) and Al/Scorpius, which is one of my new OTPs~. Regarding TMTACFT, there's also the fact that neither of us have really been in a Kingdom Hearts mood in a while, so we've lost quite a bit of momentum on all things pertaining to the series. But I'm sure it'll rekindle eventually, and when it does, more of TMTACFT will pop up. Uh... hopefully. If we abandon it entirely, which I reeeeally hope never happens, we'll post a summary of what was going to happen in the rest of the fic as a chapter. Again, really really hope it never comes to that, but life goes on, as they say.
