she ruled the playground with (tiny)hands on her hips, eyes ablaze
simple words and a shake of her fist, the jungle was hers

in time she learned, found true f r i e n d s
gained a world of wisdom, newfound awareness, purpose
eyes no longer young,
though certainly still(always) on fire
now she rules no playground, no palace, but
absolutely, surely, without a doubt,

You: are my soul sister (Heeey, Heeeeey, Heeeeeeey, your lipstick stains…). We think so alike and it is so freaking obvious that even my grandpa in China says we do. I love our conversations of “Oh!” “Ah” “AND THE UHHh” “Yeah mhmmm” “I know!!!” —they’re hard enough to decode that we don’t really need our “squiggly”’ language. –The things that remind you of me, reminds me of you. Save for, of course, your shortguys fetish (teehee), your anti-greenfoods policy, your jeans and sneakers and stripped shirts, your wall of love by your bed, and perhaps this might never end… The thought of Sophia brings to mind cute, long nightgowns on a blue futon, butterhorns from Ichido, running at five-minute intervals, homemade gingersnaps, chocolate truffles by the fireplace, and unfortunately, horror movies on the computer.
You’re right, a lot has changed, but I’ll never stop being grateful to you—thank you for always being the sister I always wanted.

4. Determined, outgoing, funny.
6. Someday, you’ll be just like Sakura. Only you won’t be able to rely on chakra to sew skin back together and get the heart beating again…

At the moment, life seems to be split into two: UPenn and becoming a doctor.
since it’s you i have absolutely no doubt that you will be able to make it. if you want, we can even bet on it.
When I think of you, I remember afternoon tea and white bagels with strawberry cream cheese. I think of Korean subways and warm nights in Shanghai, mooncakes, Kiseki and song explanations, ramen in the wee hours of the morning, Ichido, Narutardsforever and let’s not forget eyes like midnight passion.
There are times when we laugh and cry and are silent and content and a little sad and a lot of in-betweens. Although things changed, and will change, let’s stick close for the remainder of high school and beyond.
