My profile picture? I'm a taiko player. Taiko is awesome and you should look it up (that is not me in the photo, though the resemblance is strong).
As a preface, I want to say that like any writer posting to this website, I love feedback. I want to know what works and what could be changed. I want to know how things made you feel, or parts that stand out (or if you catch those little elements I add in to stories because I want you to want to slap me when you realize what just happened). I WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU. And I want you talk to other writers, too, because that's what this community is here for. Most of us will be lucky to receive just a few notes of feedback. Even fewer end up with something that really digs into their work and offers suggestions. Make it your priority as a reader to take the time to do that, because that's incredibly important to our growth.
Rant aside, if you read my work, at least leave a comment because you're a nice person.
Random information about yours truly
I find that being able to put an image to a writer is nice, so INTRODUCING...me; Sorcerousfang!
I am a woman in my twenties, on the short side (don't call me that), medium-length brown hair, blue eyes, and I'm mildly tan. My current residence is on a land mass on this strange planet called Earth, and my real-life job is teaching art to high-schoolers. I like things like Japan, this one guy I've known for years, collecting Pokémon cards, and any form of art you can name. I will talk your head off about how you can be an artist. I'm annoyingly persistent about it. My students can attest to that.
As a writer, plot bunnies live and breed in my head. I get distracted by new ideas - I have composition notebooks filled with stuff, folders with sub-folders with sub-sub-folders both in real life and on my laptop, scraps of paper with random thoughts - so my old stuff has a tendency to get neglected. Sometimes I realize I've written something terrible years after the fact and it disappears. Sometimes I start new things before I'm fully prepared to finish them. I'm trying to get better at that, and I vow to finish my stories one day. I will be a horrible updater. Please bear with me.
Things that spawn story ideas (however far they actually get): Inuyasha, Avengers, D. Gray-Man, Slayers, Vampire Hunter D, Gintama, Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro, GetBackers, Ghost Hunt, Tiger and Bunny, Sherlock, Harry Potter, Assassin's Creed, Pokémon, Mushishi, Danny Phantom, Avatar: the last airbender, Code Breaker, Darker Than Black, Metal Gear, Devil May Cry, Rurouni Kenshin, YuGiOh!, Saiyuki, Gangsta, this list could just keep going...
STORY IDEAS AND THINGS
So, EVENTUALLY I'll get around to writing something along the lines of what's written below. When and how, not yet sure, but these have the most potential (as in, I've pretty much figured out the plot for once).
The Dreamer: The Dream Catcher wielder Kaliska Michael settles into her life as an exorcist, bugging Kanda for company, and learning that just because she's found her destiny, it doesn't mean things are much easier. Her time with The Order told in many drabbles. (D. Gray-man) -- I'm playing with a different writing style for this now, partially out of laziness, mostly out of the 'what if a story was written like this' kind of curiosity. It's going to make this long with many short chapters, but at least it will be updated regularly (once I get everything written out - it needs major editing because I started it years ago and that means its not very good).
Eliminator: The GetBackers are hired to retrieve a package of stolen goods en route to a rival business associate via Kuroudo Akabane. What they aren't told is that the little man had hired an expert Eliminator not long before, and her varying definition of eliminating the problem has caused him some grief. Something about this whole job smells a bit fishy, but with bills to pay and a car to get back from impound, the retrieval duo isn't about to turn down a couple million yen just because they have to pinch their noses. (GetBackers) -- This plot bunny started hopping around a few years ago, and I'm looking into it again. It's gotten better, and I think I can really get something out of this (though I should really finish my other stories before starting another multi-chapter fic...)
Muscle Memory: When a situation becomes more than they can handle otherwise, Akabane takes up his scalpels to save once more. There are some things better remembered by the hands.(GetBackers) -- I'm on a kick, apparently. It'll show up at some point, because I have to share with you my little 'everything makes sense' moment that spawned this.
Untitled: Mai always knew to trust her gut. That feeling she should never ignore just because she knew she wasn't wrong. But sometimes she can't bring herself not to trust Naru's instinct, and this time happened to be one of them. Next time she thinks a house shouldn't be entered, she will insist upon that, and Naru...well, he'll probably listen. (Ghost Hunt) -- This is one of several ideas for Ghost Hunt now hopping around on my head. One of them will show up.
This One Is ALSO Untitled: Yako is forced to evolve when a case suddenly grinds to a halt, and the demon usually responsible for clearing up those jams is the reason for the problem in the first place. Without Neuro to guide her, Yako must solve this mystery on her own before her demonic counterpart is lost to her forever. (Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro) -- Because Neuro is all sorts of fun. I've never attempted a mystery, however, so this one needs a lot of work before I can even think about publishing it.
I Really Need to Come Up with Titles: Section Chief Misaki Kirihara decides to make a really stupid decision she knows she's going to regret in the morning. Her duties as a police officer should come second to none, but when it comes to BK201, important matters like civic responsibility quickly find places to hide. Her priorities will straighten themselves out in the morning; until then, a certain wounded contractor needs some help. Especially since this whole situation is kind of her fault.(Darker Than Black) -- This is an old idea that came up way back with I first watched the series, and now that I have a few years more experience, it's rearing its head again. The relationship between Li and Misaki and Hei and Misaki is a wonderful thing to explore while it's still a separate notion to her, and I want to play with and push it. Because honestly, they are both characters that act on their emotions, and I totally see this happening.
Titles Still Aren't My Thing: A rogue natural portal lands Danny and several classmates in the Ghost Zone. Danny is going to have to get really creative if he wants to get out of this without exposing his secret, but in the meantime, they can at least finish their English project. (Danny Phantom) -- Because who doesn't want to write a 'trapped in the GZ with classmates' story? Don't plan on making it a reveal, but I still have a bit to work out and I want to finish other projects first.
2-5-17 -- Lessons has finally gotten an update, and Deep Water is complete, though it needs a complete overhaul because, haha, writing something over the course of nine years really lends to inconsistencies. A couple of oneshots cropped up for Danny Phantom (Stargazing), and Gintama (Gintoki Had His Days). You will likely see more oneshots before Beautiful Moon gets another chapter, but that's because my personal life barely exists anymore, and I'm procrastinating as it is to get Lesson's updated. Back to planning teacher stuff.
6-27-16 -- Beautiful Moon is very old fanfiction project of mine (I started it back in 07 or 08, I think). It has gone through several incarnations and a load of rewrites and edits, and just when I thought I might be losing it, it is suddenly coming together like I didn't know it ever could, and I have no idea what to do with myself. Things are just happening. There are consistent, small details recurring throughout the story. Everything is leading to answers. There isn't any filler. EVERYTHING IS WORKING AND I CAN'T EVEN. Update: paradoxes are difficult to write. Update: I have an ending that makes sense?!?! What is this madness?!?!
5-29-16 -- I'm apparently in a 'rewrite and explore all of your old ideas' mood, which is not at all helpful for things like Deep Water (which needs finished so it can be rewritten) and Lessons, but great for things like Flavoring, Aftermath, and a couple of the ideas in my 'things to come' section above. Ugh, writing. It's a love/hate relationship I'm too deep into to break off.
1-27-16 -- And a year later, Deep Water gets a new chapter. Nearly complete. Lessons has three chapters now, the fourth is in progress, and I'm all kinds of happy with that story. I'm not currently distracted by other things, so maybe I'll actually finish DW quickly? Here's to hoping.
