I am 39, Australian, and I currently putter around between reading Dragon Age and Harry Potter. I still consider myself in the LotR fandom, but that is more in RP. Sentimental fandom connections include various Final Fantasy games, Baldur's Gate, Transformers and SPN, with occasional hunt in other fandoms for more reading.
This account is mainly for watching the few good fics I have found and am following here on the Pit (admittedly, my Favourites list has passed the 1000 mark). I removed the two fics I had posted because I will never return to them and I feel keeping them up is a waste.
My pairing preferences tend to be mostly non-canon, but for the most part pretty mainstream. I don't always go for the popular ones, but they do often gain my favour more often than not.
My LotR OTP is Boromir/Kíli, due to Valandhir's "The Raven's Blade" series. She and I have also RP'd in that universe and a couple of others related to it on Twitter. My other OTPs all involve my RP Silmaril characters, Elennárë, the Silmaril who fell into the fiery chasm with Maedhros and later re-emerged in the Third Age to eventually (and in various ways depending on timeline) become Kíli's adopted sister Kizár, Elenlossë the Silmaril who ended up falling into the sea and once again, depending on timeline, later ending up with Maglor, and Lossanárë, the Silmaril removed by Beren and Lúthien and eventually ended up with Eärendil. Losá has the most divergent plot depending on timeline - in Quest-verse, the timeline which has a crossover with Dragon Age in it's background, she never turned against her brothers and the Valar sent her back to Middle-Earth, but due to an accident, she ended up buried in Erebor to only be found in the Third Age as the Arkenstone.
In Dragon Age my Warden (see icon) Elenaria is a version of Kizár who, with her sisters, tried to escape Angband by dimension-hopping and ended up in Thedas. Her sister Lossanárë became Andraste and Elenaria became the Hero of Ferelden. The Inquisitor in their headcanon is Valandhir's First Age Easterling, Shangraile (an ancestor of her RB character Shakurán). I still favour Hawke/Anders and Fenris/Anders (with options on threesomes) in DA2, and Alistair/[male Warden] or Alistair/Jowan in DA:O. Inquisition is a bit tricky because I have come to the conclusion that outside Elenaria/Shangraile, I don't have any solid DA:I ships. Headcanon ships though include Jowan/Daylen Amell and Cullen/Solona Amell (both Amells were sent to other towers and their sister Emilia was in Ferelden).
I read a lot of slash, but I don't mind het sometimes either. I once had a time where I wouldn't read it, but then I spent three years reading Transformers sticky!fic and got over it. I am not adverse to mpreg fic, and occasionally even indulge in A/B/O. Probably one of my biggest kinks however is incest fic (consensual incest between adult characters).
I will be honest for anyone coming from the HP fandom: I ship Harry/Hermione. I know what canon says, and that's fine. If you like Harry/Ginny and Ron/Hermione, I have no intention of stopping you, but I'll advise you not to look for it in my Favourites list, as any fics that have those pairings are either about how they break up, or have R/Hr because Harry is with someone else, like Luna. I did not find the way JKR wrote the canon couples to be all that believable. I cannot logically accept that Harry/Ginny or Ron/Hermione would work. That's why I can't ship them.
I don't mind thoughtful discussion about pairings, but I will not put up with people telling me I am wrong for shipping the pairings I ship. Most of the time I do not ship canon, so don't try to tell me canon ships are better.
I also have little problem with reading bashing fics. Please keep this in mind if you are perusing my Favourites. A lot of the Harry/Hermione stuff can have elements of bashing in them - usually targeted at Dumbledore, Ron, Ginny and Molly.
