CONTACT INFO: Just send me a PM! Otherwise... TWITTER: adriculous / adrimarsink (art twitter) UPDATE [10/4/21] Wow... it's been awhile. I started getting into a new fandom, and it's also the first time I've gotten into a fandom that's unrelated to anime or video games. I love Miraculous: Ladybug & Cat Noir so much that they really reminded me of all my past favorite (shoujo) manga and anime that I just had to write one! NOTE ABOUT "RIDE THE WILD SURF" As for those who kept sending me PMs and emails about Ride the Wild Surf, I really have to apologize, however, I really just don't have any interest in the fic anymore. Goldenwolfhowl was gracious enough to adopt and finish it and I thank her for that. You can follow her adaptation here. I just lost my interest in MMPPP for the longest time, so I do hope you understand and I'm really sorry to disappoint you all. Thank you all for your support for the fanfic. About me as an author... Art is life and life can imitate art. That includes visual arts, literary arts, coding arts, and vocal (singing) arts. I used to have an account here but I have lost the username and password, so I made another one. I used to write complete fics from Card Captor Sakura and among other series, but ever since my desktop died two years ago, all those files are long lost and gone. In addition, I can't log in to my old one anymore. You can visit: I started writing fanfics back in 1996 in college when I took web publishing classes and learned how to make my own simple websites. My first fanfic was an adventure/comedy fanfic based on Dragonball Z and Dragonball GT. FanfictionNET hasn't existed yet back then, so I had to present this fanfic in its very own website. I no longer have the old files for that fanfic but I do know briefly the summary of that fanfic. After that, I started writing fanfics for Final Fantasy 8 in 1999-2000, and then in 2001-2003, Card Captor Sakura. I don't write as much fanfics as I used to but sometimes I do end up writing one to improve my writing in general. I like mysteries, some borderline fantasy or sci-fi, romance, slice of life stories, and general stories that are simply well-written regardless of the setting or genre. I'm not very fond of stories that are extremely non-canon (ie. yaoi, yuri, incest, crack, slash, etc. etc.), characters written out of character, seriously atrocious grammar and spelling (though I'm not perfect, it's irritating to see the obvious mistakes), and 4-5 paragraph "fiction" and then consider it as a one-shot. Why even write them when you can't even write a good story with detail? ORIGINAL STORIES FictionPress: Adrimarie @ Fictionpress Wattpad: (AdriCULOUS) Figment Fiction: (Study Buddy (my first CCS fanfic) is also posted there) [NOTE ABOUT THE LENGTH OF MY CHAPTERS] There is no *set* word count on chapters. There is no rule in general creative writing that one chapter should have in a fic. I'm a bit irritated with some comments from people complaining that the chapters on my fics are too long. The writing process would be a whole lot slower if the chapters become way too short, so please, don't criticize my story simply because the chapters are long. If you read books, for sure you wouldn't be complaining on how long or how short the chapters are written. Why would you complain about it on amateur/hobbyist writers about it? [FANFICTION STATUS] The rewriting of my old Card Captor Sakura abandoned third fic isn't working really well on Kodocha so I decided to discontinue it (plus I haven't gotten any reviews for it for the past 2 weeks). I recently rekindled my love for CCS as of late and now I have decided to go back to my abandoned third fic and rewrite it and hopefully finish it. As mentioned before, I had two more CCS fanfics under a very old account - DaidoujiTomoyo @ . Because I can't log in anymore and the is unable to help me reset the account, I decided to leave my first 2 fics over there. You can still leave a review there, but I will have to reply to all of your reviews (via PM) using this (Adrimarie) account. Some Other Stuff About Me... I'm a proud Pinay-American living in (not always) Sunny California. I speak two languages fluently (Filipino and English) and can read/write/understand two languages proficiently (Spanish and Japanese). I also like to do graphic web design and noob-style 3D character modeling. I also like writing original stories, primarily mysteries and when needed, romance fluff. I also like music in general except country and heavy metal. I mostly listen to the older stuff (I think majority of today's music are not as good as the ones in the past), '60s - '90s, and I listen to a good amount of Asian Pop (OPM stuff, J-Pop, some K-Pop and C-Pop). I love to read... read... read... and read... so much that my bedroom is more of a library now than an actual bedroom. I like some traditional art too but I've been lazy as of late. I mostly like calligraphy and sumi-e (Japanese brush painting) but I can tolerate very minimal standard illustration. I think that's it for now. CURRENT SERIES Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir FANFIC TYPES Borderline alternate universe Romance Witty humor (not slapstick or parody-types) Good, simple storylines Borderline action Mystery (which includes murder mysteries) Couplings that actually do make sense (from canon couples to non-canon couples that have strong implications that they can be a couple too) LEAST FAVORITE FANFICS #1 - Anything yaoi/yuri/slash/crack/incest. I'm not homophobic, but I do have personal interests and preferences in stories, plus I don't want to write about something I'm not familiar with, as it may offend some people as well. If you're looking for fics that have those types of themes, then I'm not the author you're looking for. #2 - Characters being written out of character from the original series, alternate universe/AU or not. #3 - Non-canon couples, most especially if these characters don't have an established relationship in the original series. I would probably use non-canon couples when necessary and if the pairings actually make sense, but other than that, I'm not really in to that. #4 - Fanfics with no concrete detail and seriously atrocious grammar and spelling. I'm not expecting perfect grammar and spelling but if the mistakes are just obvious then there is a problem. #5 - Badly-written songfics. In tie with the songfics part, I don't write songfics with songs I'm unfamiliar with. Since I'm in my 30s now, I still dig the "old school" music that I used to listen too from childhood to college. In other words, if you see a song in any one of my fics and you are requesting a particular song for me to write on, sorry, I don't take songfic requests. #6 - Any anime/manga fanfics with Japanese song lyrics being inserted at the wrong places and/or if there are no English translations to them. Why? Because I'm pretty sure that majority of the fanfic writers and fans here don't exactly KNOW the Japanese language. #7 - Any anime/manga fanfics with Japanese phrases being used in the wrong situations. I've studied Japanese for seven years and doing self-studying now (and I still don't consider myself fluent) so I can be really nitpicky with fics with too many Japanese phrases being used in the wrong scenarios. #8 - Any anime/fanfics that has an insane over-usage of the word "kawaii." Here is a good time to ask other anime/manga authors to give you a list of suggestions on any Japanese adjectives you would like to use for your fics. Here are good examples of usable adjectives that you can use other than "kawaii.": - Kirei: pretty (as in "Wow, that girl is pretty!" or "I've never seen such a pretty girl like her!") - Kakkoii: hot, cool (Japanese guys in general DO NOT LIKE to be called "kawaii." "Kakkoii is a more appropriate term for anyone to call hot/handsome/attractive/cool guys. This term can also be used towards other people who are just plain cool enough. (ie. "Sakura's rollerblading is so kakkoii!") - Utsukushii: beautiful (this is a lot deeper than "Kirei." For example, a guy would say to his true love once he sees her in a simple plain dress: "Utsukushii..." or something like that O_o;) - Sugoi: "That's awesome!" or "That's really cool!" - Subarashii: Wonderful, awesome! - Saikou: The best! (ex. "Syaoran-kun saikou da!" (Syaoran is the best!)) There's plenty more but those are the most common adjectives that you would normally see in an anime and/or J-drama. Just... please... don't use "kawaii" way too much. That's not the only Japanese adjective in the world, you know. However, if you don't know any other adjectives to use other than "kawaii," then do us a favor-- just DON'T USE ANY Japanese adjectives at all. XD #9 - Any fanfics with recycled ideas (for example, those "rewrites" that some people do from the original story/plot, making their own version. That's just disrespectful to the original writers/mangaka and also a copyright infringement as well) #10 - OCs who are written as the main characters and very little attention towards the canon characters #11 - "Mary Sue"-type OCs and/or self-insertion #12 - Crossovers (now, I know having crossovers with some other series provide plenty of story ideas, but I'm not a very huge major fan of them. I actually prefer having a whole different plot with some OCs rather than using crossovers, unless if there's something in common with the main series that actually makes sense...) #13 - Japanese school systems are NOT THE SAME as American school systems. There are only 3 years in middle school/junior high and 3 years in high school in the Japanese school system compared to 4 years in (some) junior high/middle school and 4 years in high school here in the U.S. Unless if this is set in some fantasy fictional AU world, please don't use the wrong school system in your fics, especially if they're set in Japan. #14 - The Japanese DO NOT earn their driver's license until they're 18. In short, all high school students still walk or take public transportation to go to school. It's very unrealistic to see Japanese high schoolers getting to school by driving their own car. It just doesn't work that way. Please. XD |
