I used to write prolifically back in high school; nothing great, but I enjoyed it. Lately, I've been trying to get my writing abilities back up to snuff. To that end, I started a hard-boiled noir detective story...about a pony.

The two authors I most aspire to imitate (however poorly) are Sir Terry Pratchett, Master of Tropes and God of Modern Literature, and Jim Butcher, the guy who can take a stupid bet ("make a story about the lost Roman legion and Pokemon!") and turn it into an absolutely fantastic series. Oh, and he also writes some other series about a private eye wizard or something. Psh. Whatever.
